The UDP’s PRO for the North Bank Region (NBR), Karamo Njie, has asserted that “the end of President Adama Barrow’s presidency in 2026” will spell the end of the NPP rule.
It would be recalled that Mr. Barrow told a political rally in the regional capital of Basse on Saturday that the NPP dispensation will be sustained for generations to come but Njie believed that the Gambian leader was just building a castle in the air. He maintained that the days of the NPP are numbered. He continued: “Barrow is just intoxicated with power and is, therefore, unable to see things clearly. Wasn’t it not Yahya Jammeh, who said he will rule The Gambia for one billion years? How about Kebba Fanta Komma, who said he cannot contemplate The Gambia without Sir Dawda Jawara? Jammeh was shown the exit door months after his outrageous comment and Jawara was overthrown by the military just two years after Kebba Fanta’s comment. These developments have shown that The Gambia is bigger than an individual or a single political party.”
Njie said the NPP is built on a shaky ground and that it’s only a matter of time that the party will crumble like a pack of cards.
“NPP is in its death throes and when we go to the polls in 2026, Barrow will have no shred of doubt that he is rejected by Gambians and that the NPP rule has permanently come to an end. Barrow and the NPP will be taught an unforgettable lesson when we return to the polls in little later than two years and that would mark the beginning of the end of the NPP in this country. You can take this statement to the bank,” added the UDP’s NBR mouthpiece.
