University of The Gambia holds 13th matriculation

The University of the Gambia (UTG) yesterday held the 13th edition of its Matriculation for the new intake, ceremony was held at the Faculty of Law of the university.

1,075 new intake students of the 10 schools of UTG, out of which 529 are male and 549 are female, were officially approved as students of UTG 

Vice Counselor, Prof. Herbert Robinson, in his speech, said this journey they embark on is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about self-discovery, personal growth, and development. So that they can meaningfully contribute to the nation building. However, he urged all the students to look after the facilities at Faraba Campus as they belong to all the students and future generations.

Moreover, he points out some of the partners they are working with to improve the students’ experience.

“We are working with the stakeholders, the Ministry of Higher Education Research Science and Technology, and other development partners to continue to improve the experience of students at the UTG,” he said.

Meanwhile, he made it clear to the students that the UTG has zero tolerance when it comes to violating rules and regulations. 

Notwithstanding, he encouraged students to engage themselves in networking, and other activities outside the school to go the extra mile as learning doesn’t just stop at four corners of the school.

Mariama F. Darboe, a Medical student, expressed her happiness saying this is a dream come through for her.

“Furthering my education is something I wished and I always work for. So this is a dream come through for me and I am so excited “

However, she said she expected the lecturers to be punctual in class and provide all needful for them.
