Dr. Ceesay Urges Gambians to Re-elect President Barrow for National Interest

By Kemo Kanyi

The Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay has called on Gambian electorates to re-elect President Adama Barrow so that he can complete his already ongoing development projects in the country.

He said there are all indications that the Barrow Administration can develop this nation. The minister added that there can’t be another president that can reduce the prices of commodities even if they promise to do so.

‘’President Barrow started development projects that need stability and predictability. So, it is in the interest of Gambians to re-elect him in 2026 so that he can continue those projects. If people think that someone else can come and reduce the cost of living, let them try and see. They can’t reduce the cost of living,’’ the information minister stated on Eye Africa TV on Thursday.

In his response to the outcomes of the Mayoral and legislative elections compared to the 2021 presidential election, Dr. Ceesay said those elections cannot be used as a yardstick to predict the 2026 presidential election. He added that Barrow’s first five years were very messy and should not be counted as his first term in the office of the President.

‘’If anyone wants to use the Mayoral and legislative elections as a benchmark to predict the 2026 presidential election, you will be making a big mistake because they are not the same. He did not start early because his first five years were a messy politicized coalition. This is why I did not count his first five years. For me, Barrow has only one term in office as President. Forget about term limits, our Constitution does not have term limits. Legally, Barrow has a right to contest. He performs, delivers, and we like him,’’ Dr. Ceesay argued.

He stated that President Barrow does not threaten, disturb, kill, insult, or beat anyone in the country and he is delivering as expected, adding that the President would contest in 2026, and no one can do anything about that.

‘’I heard some little chicks in the diaspora making noise about Barrow should not contest, they will find us here in 2026. We shall see if their fathers own this country. Barrow will contest, and nobody can do anything about it because Gambians will vote for him,’’ he vehemently stated.
