Court Orders Eviction of Tenant for Trouble-Making

By: Fatoumata Konteh

Magistrate Dawda Fatty of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court has ordered the immediate eviction of one Kumba Sambou from the compound she currently occupies at Sinchu Baliya for reasons, bordering on her too many troubles with neighbours and her landlord.

Kumba’s landlord Ebrima Danso informed the court that he filed the case against Kumba, who he had already given notice to vacate his compound since May 2024 because she was not giving both him and her neighbours peace in the compound. Danso told the court that Kumba bluntly refused to leave by insisting that she is paying for the house and that no one can tell her what to do.

Also testifying, another Ebrima Danso, who is a brother and part owner of the compound, maintained that though he is not resident in the country, he has been getting numerous reports and complaints about Kumba’s problems in their compound. He added that she always played music till late at night and when people talked to her, she would say that “she is paying for the house and will, therefore, do what she wants.”

Magistrate Fatty in his judgment noted that Kumba has failed to show up in court but he ordered her eviction from the house.
