Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, has tasked Madi Jobarteh, a prominent human rights activist, to be a man and throw his hat in the political arena, adding that he should stop hiding behind activism to attack President Barrow.

Speaking on Coffee Time With Peter Gomez on Tuesday, Dr.Ceesay said: “Madi is suffering from a dual syndrome of idleness and bitterness. That’s why his main task is to attack the presidency. We all know Madi, he is political now. I think he should go political. Madi cannot be hiding behind activism to do politics.’’

The minister said Madi should transform the Edward Francis Small Centre for Rights and Justice into a political party and come to the political terrain to participate in politics.

‘’What I can tell Madi is let him come political. Let him stop hiding behind activism. His actions depict a bitter man. I don’t know the cause of his bitterness,’’ Dr Ceesay stated. He added that the rights activist has never written about the revelations coming from the Local Government Commission but keeps on attacking the President whenever he speaks.

‘’Madi never wrote about the revelations at the Local Government Commission, the exposure of corruption at the local councils that are run by the United Democratic Party. He never talks about that. All he does is attack the President whenever he speaks. That’s not activism. He has transcended activism. Let him come political. I think Madi wants to come into politics but he is scared. Let him be a man and come to the terrain. He is a coward,’’ claimed Dr. Ceesay.

He further stated that Madi is hard on the government and lenient with the UDP, arguing that the activist has a political agenda that he is finding a way to push through.
