One Ismaila Sanneh appeared before magistrate K.B Sambou ofthe Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on charges of abduction.
The prosecution charged Ismaila with the offence of”abduction,” contrary to Section 125 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01, Volume III of the Revised Laws of The Gambia (2009).
The particulars of the offense had it that Ismaila Sanneh on or about 19 October 2024, at Brikama Wellingara, West Coast Region, unlawfully took an unmarried girl under the age of 18 years out of the custody or protection of her parents and against their will.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Corporal I. Touray, who represented the Inspector General of Police in the matter, did not object to bail for the accused but applied for an adjournment to secure her witness to testify.
Magistrate K.B. Sambou, in his ruling, granted the application and adjourned the matter to 31 December 2024.
Ismaila was granted bail in the sum of D50,000 and was required to have one Gambian surety.
