By: Penda Joof

Bilbabo FC narrowly edged Tigers FC in a thrilling semi-final showdown by a lone goal in the ongoing Africell-Sponsored Serekunda West Sports Development Association’s league on Sunday.

The result gave Bilbabo FC a place in the league final for the second consecutive Nawettan season. They are on the way to defending their crown this Saturday when they take on Cambel Town FC

Modou Sanyang gave Bilbabo FC the lead in the 14th minute, which was enough to keep their dreams alive as they yearn to defend a highly coveted trophy.

Tigers FC have crafted some goal-scoring opportunities, searching for an equalizer, but a highly resolute Bilbabo FC defensive setup proves their resilience against the opponents’ attacking front.

The intensity of the game was felt before the ball was kicked. The push and pull started between the two sets of players about who should first enter the pitch, this further involved the technical coaches of the two sides.  When the match ended, the atmosphere of intensity grew higher. Supporters were stoned randomly onto the pitch, which caused the media not to conduct interviews for both coaches.

This hooliganism has resulted in security personnel tear gassing to control the unfortunate incident for public safety, but this affects many innocent people after inhaling the smoke fired.
