Alleged PIU Shooter’s Testimony Continues

The alleged shooter of PIU officers Ousainou Bojang on Tuesday continued his testimony at the Banjul High Court.

Testifying before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, Ousainou told the court that he noticed that his girlfriend, Clandeth, phoned Famara Sarjo at Brusubi police station. He testified that upon reaching his house, he phoned officer Seedy Sonko and informed him of the situation, stating that Sonko advised him to take a stand by consulting marabouts. Ousainou, however, said that when his girlfriend phoned him to inquire about the payment of her maintenance contribution, he told her that he was waiting for the tenants’ rental payment which, he said,was paid to him on 4 September 2023.

According to the accused, his girlfriend instructed him to deduct a maintenance cost of D6,450 from the tenant’s monthly rent, stating that after deducting it, he deposited the remaining balance into her account. Ousainou further testified that on 6 September 2023, he went to his boss, Sharon Brown, who doubles as the treasurer of the apartment and Coco Ocean, and paid the D6,450 maintenance cost to her.   

”I went to her and handed her the money in the afternoon, and she did not give me a receipt,” the accused said.

He explained that when his boss gave him the receipt, he took a picture of it and sent it to his girlfriend, but when his girlfriend received it, she told him that his boss knew her by the name Claudeth Francis Montetude. Bojang said that his girlfriend told him to instruct his boss to change her surname to Francis.  

Bojang, however, explained that on 11 September 2023, when he went to Tanji village to run his errandsafterwards, he visited one of his ex-school mates, Ousman Colley at Tanji, who told him that he had shown his nude videos on social media where his face was visible along with a partly visible woman’s body, stating that Colley was unable to give him the type of website,where his nude videos were uploaded.

He went further to say that when he phoned his boss, Sharon, she advised him to be calm and phone his girlfriend, stating that he could recall the warning from his girlfriend, who told him that one day he would see something that he would regret for the rest of his life. 

Ousainou’s testimony continues on 2 December 2023.

Meanwhile, according to the particulars of offense,Ousainou Bojang on or about 12 September 2023, along Sukuta Traffic Light, caused the death of police constables Pateh Jallow and Sang J. Gomez and seriously injured one Constable Ancy Jawo.
