One Ebrima Gassama appeared before Magistrate I.O Njie of Brikama magistrates’ court on charges of “common assault on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
Corporal 2195 A. Jatta represented the Inspector General of Police while the accused Gassama was not represented by any counsel.
The prosecution charged the accused person with “common assault” contrary to section 227 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 volume 3, revised laws of The Gambia 2009.
The indictment alleges that Ebrima Gassama on the 26th day of October 2024, at New Yundum, Kombo North, willfullyand unlawfully assaulted one Isatou Billey Bah by beating her, thereby committing an offence.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges
The prosecution applied for adjournment to proceed with her witnesses and made no objections to the bail of the accused. The court granted the application forwarded by the prosecution.
The accused person was admitted to bail in the sum of D10,000 with one Gambian surety who shall depose to an affidavit of means in the like sum.
The case was to Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:30 for PW1 to testify.
