Alleged Burglar Docked

One Dawda Jallow last Tuesday appeared before Magistrate A. Fofana of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony and stealingtherein.

According to the particulars of his alleged offense, Dawda Jallow on or about 10 September 2024, at Sanyang village, broke into the store of one Muhammed Samareh with intent to commit a felony therein to wit- stealing.

On count two, the prosecution charged Dawda with the offense of stealing contrary to Section 252 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01 of Volume III of the Laws of The Gambia (2009).

According to the particulars of the alleged offence, Dawda Jallow on or about10 September 2024, at Sanyang village, stole a refrigerator valued at €300 equivalent to D22,163.83, three flat screen tv marked LG 47 inches valued at €600 equivalent to D44,327.67, One 40-inch Sharp tv valued at D20,000.00, a flat-screen tv valued at D45,000.00 flat and awheelbarrow valued at D3,000.00. 

The total monetary value of the items allegedly stolen by Dawda is D134,491.51.00 but he pleaded not guilty to both counts.

The accused person was admitted to bail in the sum of D100,000.00 with two Gambian sureties, who shall depose to an affidavit of means.

The Inspector General of Police was represented by Sergeant 4422 M.J Sallah, while the accused person was not represented.
