The Gambia Police Force and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) convened a Steering Committee Meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
The meeting aimed to provide updates on ongoing projects, discuss challenges, and review the successes achieved under the Joint EU-German Support Program for the GPF financed by the German Federal Foreign Office and co-financed by the EU. The initiative focuses on strengthening institutional capacities, enhancing community policing, and combating gender-based violence, among other priorities.

Participants also addressed challenges, including logistical constraints, infrastructure maintenance, and the need for expanded support in combating gender-based violence.
Key outcomes of the meeting included an approval of a six-month work plan for ongoing and upcoming projects, Commitment from GIZ to support the National Policing Strategy 2024–2028, and Emphasis on the GPF’s involvement in all major project decisions to ensure sustainable implementation.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from all stakeholders to advance public safety, strengthen institutional reform, and build a safer and more secure Gambia.
