Magistrate A. Fofana of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday issued an order for the remand in custody of one Bubacarr Njie at Mile II on allegations of dealing in “Kush.”
Baboucarr was charged with the alleged offense of possession of prohibited drug, contrary to section 35 (2) of the Drug Control Act (2014) as amended.
According the details of the alleged offense, Baboucarr was found in possession of 4g and 116mg and 13g 248mg of “Kush” on 22 November 2024, at Lamin.
He denied criminal responsibility.
The prosecution, led by M. Demba, raised an objection to abail for the accused, arguing that Baboucarr is one of the suppliers of Kush to the Lamin youth. Prosecutor Demba told the court that the women of Lamin village “are very”concerned about the current rise in Kush consumption in the community, adding that the women had conveyed their concerns to the DLEAG.
“For these reasons, we are denying the bail of the accused,” M. Demba stated.
The accused, however, pleaded with the court to grant him bail. He denied supplying Kush to the community of Lamin.
The court ruled in favour of the application made by the prosecution and the magistrate ordered for the accusedperson’s remand at Mile II.
The case resumes on 10 December 2024, for the commencement.
