Gambian Adama Barrow has shed light on the appointment newly appointed Minister to the Presidency (a position that is its first time in the country’s democratic history), stressing that the Minister will serve as the chief adviser and coordinator at the presidency.
The President explained that the ministerial position which removed the Chief of Staff from the civil service framework is designed to ensure that the Office of the President operates with precision and efficiency.
‘’Henceforth, the Chief of Staff will play a crucial role as the chief adviser and coordinator of presidential priorities. The arrangement is to guarantee that decisions taken at the levels of the executives are effectively implemented across all ministries and department. Separating this function from the civil service will reinforce the neutrality and professionalism of the public service, while creating a focus and functional politically aligned advisory institute within the presidency,’’ H.E Barrow explained during the swearing ceremony of the newly appointed minister at the state house last Friday.
He added that the ceremony is a symbolic demonstration of his government’s commitment to ongoing reforms and continual modernization and improvement of the country’s governance system it addresses the ever-evolving needs of Gambians.
‘’The goal is to streamline decision-making processes and to ensure effective policy implementation in the best interest of the nation for the benefit of all Gambians,’’ the President cited.
Mod K. Ceesay, Dr. Habibatou Drammeh, and Lamin Jabbi, were sworn-in as ministers of Presidency, Basic and Secondary Education, and Communication and Digital Economy.
Dr. Drammeh on behalf of her colleagues affirmed their commitment to serve the nation as responsibilities bestowed on them dictates. She stated that they will work hand in glove to register successes in various endeavors.
