GRA Staff Training on Revenue Laws Opens

Mr. Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has stated that the authority’s is established by law and entrusted with the mandate to serve as the government of the Gambia principal agent for revenue administration.

He made these remarks at the opening of the 7th edition of intensive training on revenue laws for twenty-five staffs drawn from different departments within GRA and he said the authority mandate includes assessing, collecting and enforcing revenue on behalf of the government.

He noted that the GRA act is formally designates by the authority as the primary revenue collector, ensuring the effective administration and enforcement of the nation’s revenue laws.
Mr.  Abdourahman Bah, head of Legal Department, GRA revealed that over 350 staffs of GRA, especially those in the operations department has benefitted from the training, which ensures that they are adequately equipped with the understanding of the law.

He said the   modules covering a range critical thematic areas such as GRA act, the income tax & value added tax act, the customs act and laws governing stamp duty, as well as payroll tax, participants will gain practical insight into the procedures and processes within the domestic and customs departments, ensuring a balanced understanding of both theoretical and operational aspects.
