The sheer magnitude of solidarity, which was shown to The Voice newspaper editors during their arrest and subsequent trial, was indeed overwhelming. The generosity of spirit of the people during this phase of the editors’ careers was commendable and praise-worthy. We are indeed appreciative of the many telephone calls from friends and well-wishers, who either called to enquire about our physical and emotional wellbeing or just to buoy our spirits.
Our comrades-in-pen particularly deserve a pat on the back for their open solidarity by regularly visiting the police HQ during the detention of editor Darboe and the subsequent interrogation of him and editor-in-chief Sheriff. Hat doffed!
To everyone, we say thank you for your invaluable support.
We sincerely thank the family of the two editors for their support.
To the NEPA, GPU and Media Council of The Gambia, we say Jaraama.
