In a historic moment on Sunday, 15 December 2024, the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) and the National People’s Party (NPP) formed an alliance at the NPP bureau in Serrekunda. This alliance symbolized a coming together of two major political parties for the greater good of the country. The atmosphere at the bureau was filled with excitement as party members from both sides gathered, singing and dancing in celebration of this new partnership.
As the party leader of GMC, Mai Ahmed Fatty, entered the bureau, he was welcomed with open arms by the top members of NPP. Hon. Seddie Njie, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, expressed the importance of alliances in politics, emphasizing the need for unity to drive progress. In a powerful statement, he highlighted the shared goal of both parties to work towards the development of the nation. If you want to go up, you have to have an alliance.”
Fa Keaba Cessay, campaign manager of GMC, spoke on behalf of the party, emphasizing the importance of coming together for the betterment of the country. “We came here to ally with NPP and join together to work for the nation.” He stressed the need for unity and cooperation to achieve development and progress. The alliance between GMC and NPP was seen as a significant step towards a brighter future for the Gambia.
Saikou Sillah, youth mobilizer for GMC, echoed the sentiments of unity and progress, emphasizing the positive impact that the alliance would have on the country. He called on all members of both parties to work together towards a common goal of national development.
Ma Awa Sambou, National Woman Mobilizer of GMC, highlighted the importance of women’s participation in politics and their role in building a better future for the country.”Gambia’s success is our success,” She urged women to join hands with the president and work towards the common goal of national progress.
Fanta Sima, another National Woman Mobilizer of GMC, emphasized the need for positivity and unity in the face of criticism. She encouraged party members to stay focused on the goal of national development and not be swayed by detractors.

He emphasized that the alliance was based on national interest and the shared goal of advancing the country. “We are here to join the NPP to continue the peace because it is the first thing in national development.” He reiterated that the alliance was not about personal gain but about working towards a better future for all Gambians.
