Spanish NGO, Mama Tamba Youths Association Partner to Roll Out Migration Training for Youths

weeklong migration training organized by the Mama Tamba Youth Association of Illiasia in partnership with Spanish NGO Associacio Reintegra is underway in Illiasa in the North Bank Region. on migration for 10 youths.

Ten individuals from Illiasa, Jumansarba, Jali Kunda and Jajari of Upper Baddibou are taking part in the training.

The Coordinator of Mama Tamba Jammeh Youths Association, Tamba Jammeh, described the awareness creation initiative and training as fundamental, noting that they would enable youths to be aware of the dangers and challenges in entering Spain and other European nations. He explained that their partnership with the Spanish International Associacio Reintegra is aimed at sharing experiences with migrant returnees, women and youths with the ultimate aim of saving lives and encouraging youths to stay and contribute to the development of their communities through skills acquisition.

Participants have developed vegetable production cycle to enhance timely planting and market for their produce.
The weeklong awareness creation will feature practical sessions on nursery preparation, planting techniques and compost making, among others, to enable young people to take up agriculture as a trade.

Projects Associacio Reintegra of Spain, Lavra Tarrago, said the forum aims to promote and create opportunities for young people to stay in The Gambia and avoid taking the risky route to Europe. She noted that undocumented migrants are always disadvantaged by companies. 

Madam Tarrago called on youths to desist from using the Backway to get to Europe.

Omar Chatty of Jali Kunda and Isatou Saine of Illiasa both thanked Mama Tamba Youths Association and their Spanish partner for the foresight in augmenting their understanding of migration. They noted that it would greatly enable them to disseminate key information among young people and their families. The duo acknowledged that the training on vegetable production would greatly help them in adopting best horticultural practices.
