On Tuesday, Gambia’s Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) called for progress in implementing the Truth, Reconciliation, and Reparations Commission (TRRC) recommendations.
This final CSO platform meeting and capacity-building session fostered a collaborative environment, allowing representatives from various organizations to share innovative ideas focused on enhancing communication strategies in the pursuit of transitional justice.
Saffiatou Nyang, the Legal Officer of the Post-TRRC Unit, highlighted the encouragement from ECOWAS to adopt a hybrid report aimed at establishing a tribunal.
She added that this initiative marks a significant step toward accountability and justice for victims of past atrocities, signaling a commitment to uphold human rights and dignity.
Haruna Drammeh, the founder of Paradise TV/Radio, emphasized the importance of effective communication strategies, which are essential for raising awareness and mobilizing support for transitional justice initiatives.
His insights resonated deeply with attendees, as they understood that strong communication channels are vital for fostering community engagement and ensuring that the voices of victims are heard.
