The Gambia’s 60th independence anniversary will be celebrated in a spectacular fashion, indicated the Gambia government spokesman on Tuesday.
Ebrima G. Sankareh hinted that 60 years of nationhood will be celebrated in an unprecedented style in terms of grandeur, pomp, pageantry and ceremony.
Speaking in an interview with Coffee Time With Peter Gomez yesterday, Mr. Sankareh said four heads of state are expected to fly in to grace the Gambia’s golden jubilee.
He explained that there would be a twist to the traditional way of celebrating the country’s extrication from the shackles of colonialism as, according to him, personalities who have contributed to the attainment of the country’s independence and the resuscitation of democratic rule in 2016 will be celebrated during February’s independence anniversary celebration.
