TANGO Facilitates Key CSO/NGO Engagement in The Gambia

In a groundbreaking event, the Association of NGOs (TANGO) took center stage to spearhead a dynamic Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Engagement Conference, showcasing their unwavering commitment to advancing social causes in The Gambia.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy, Eric Mehler, lauded TANGO and other CSOs for their pivotal role in promoting democracy and gender equality in the country, highlighting the significant increase in U.S. assistance to The Gambia. He emphasized the impact of civil society in strengthening accountability and empowering communities, stating, “We see the work that you are doing and the impacts that you are having.”

Mrs. Ndey Sireng Bakurin, Executive Director of TANGO, emphasized the crucial partnership between civil society and other stakeholders in driving sustainable development. She reiterated the importance of inclusivity and collaboration in addressing pressing issues like climate change and social injustices, stating, “Together, we are strong together, we will build a more just and sustainable future.”

Chairperson of TANGO, Yadicon Njie Eribo, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated efforts of all participants in tackling critical societal challenges. She highlighted the resilience and determination of civil society in facing adversities head-on, declaring, “Civil society’s commitment to getting work done is unwavering.”

The conference served as a beacon of unity and progress, providing a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, forge new alliances, and envision a future where justice and equity prevail. It was a moment of reflection on past achievements and a call to action for continued collaboration in shaping a brighter tomorrow.
