Door en Voor Gambia, a charitable organization based in Holland, has donated fire extinguishers and first aid training materials to the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).

Door en Voor Gambia was established in November 2023 with the aim of assisting Gambians, especially those in need.

During the donation ceremony, Divisional Fire Officer PatehGibba expressed his gratitude, stating that this donation is significant as it will enhance the fire rescue service’s operations. He remarked, “The Diaspora always supports our institution, particularly in the field of firefighting, which is one of the most challenging professions. The organization has donated crucial first aid materials such as fire extinguishers and CPR equipment. This equipment will assist us in carrying out our duties and ultimately save lives.”

Gibba also emphasized that these donated materials can serve the public, as even a small group of people can be at risk during a fire outbreak.

“When such incidents occur, they need resources to protect themselves while awaiting our rescue team,” he explained. He assured that the equipment would be distributed to various operational units within the service.

Mr. Gibba thanked the donors for their unwavering commitment and expressed hope for further collaboration in the future.

The founder of the organization, Mbaye Jahateh, reiterated their mission to assist Gambians in difficult situations.

“Our organization does not limit our interventions to one area; we also provide medical materials to hospitals,” he stated. He added that in the near future, the organization aims to establish a clinic to improve the country’s healthcare system.

The organization’s secretary Fatou Bintou Colley emphasized that their mission is to support Gambians, especially the needy.

“We are passionate about changing the lives and livelihoods of the people, particularly in a country like Gambia,” she asserted. “With government support, our organization could achieve a lot through collective responsibility in the future.”
