The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced through a press release that it will be conducting a by-election for the Massembeh ward in the Mansakonko Administrative Area on Saturday 22nd February 2025. The by-election is a result of the demised of Mr. Bakary Korita, Councilor for Massembeh Ward.
The communiqué from the IEC states: “Under section 23 of the Local Government Act, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) shall conduct a by-election in the MansakonkoAdministrative Area. This follows the demise of Mr. Bakary Korita; Councilor for Massembeh Ward. The Commission wishes to inform the general public that a Council by-election will be conducted on Saturday 22nd February 2025 to fill the vacancy in Massembeh Ward in the Mansakonko Area Council,” the press release stated.
The electoral umpire also says that nomination forms can be collected from the IEC Mansakonko Regional office from 20th January 2025 onwards. The campaign period for the said by-election and the press release notes shall start from Monday 10th February to Thursday 20th February 2025.
