Narcotics officer Alieu Suso on Wednesday testified in the trial of one Alfred Camara on Kush possession charges.

Alfred has been charged with the alleged offence of being found in possession of 6g and 313mg of Kush at California Bar in Kololi on 31 January 2024.

In his testimony, NCO2 Alieu Susso testified that on 31 January 2024, information was relayed to DLEAG’s Manjai station that an illegal activity was underway at a Nigerian bar called California. Officer Suso narrated that they then headed for the bar at 1 PM.

“On our arrival at the bar, we found the accused sitting in the bar alone. We identified ourselves as narcotics officers. Then, we informed the accusedperson that we wanted to conduct a search within the premises. He was searched personally but nothing was found on him,’’Suso testified. He further testified that further search of the premises led to the recovery of two transparent nylon bags beside the fence, containing suspected “Kush”. “From there, we asked the accused person who the owner of the nylon bags is, and he admitted the ownership. We further asked him where he got the substance from and he informed us that he bought it from someone for D300.00. He was arrested and taken to Manjai police station where he was charged accordingly,’’ NCO2 Suso adduced.

Under cross-examination, the Alfred disagreed with Suso’s testimony that he was found inside the bar alone, saying: “I am putting it to you that I was not the only one sitting there. There were people sitting with me in the bar.’’ The witness, however, insisted that Alfred was found alone.

“I did not tell you that I’m the owner of the nylon bags,” Alfred told Suso.

“Of course, you said you are the owner,’’ repliedSuso.

“I am also putting it to you that you did not find me sitting. Instead, I was standing at the corner of the bar,” Alfred told Suso. Suso, however, insisted that Alfred was found sitting.

The matter was at that juncture adjourned to 23 January 2025, for continuation.
