The National Assembly Member for Jokadu, Salifu Jawo, has stated that his district has been in need of road construction for over 40 years now.

In an interview with The Voice, Jawo mentioned that during the last parliamentary session, he raised a question regarding road infrastructure in Jokadu.

“The minister of works informed Parliament that Jokadu has been allocated 40 kilometers of road,” he said.

“We are pleased to receive this information, but we want to know when the construction will actually begin,” Jawo inquired. He noted that Jokadu has been struggling with poor roads which, he described as a nightmare, adding that the feeder roads were last built in 1985.

Jawo pointed out that community members often come together during the rainy season to seek solutions to their road challenges.

“This is one of the most serious problems faced by the people of Jokadu,” he stressed. He further emphasized that road infrastructure is crucial and should be a priority for the government.

“As a representative of the people, the condition of the roads in my constituency deeply concerns me. I cannot bear to see my community suffering during the rainy season every year without a solution to this issue,” he argued.

The Jokadu NAM called on the works minister to prioritize road construction, stating, “This situation requires urgent attention before the rainy season begins.”

Meanwhile, Jawo highlighted the issue of water shortages in and around Jokadu District, noting that residents are struggling to access clean water.

“Boreholes were dug in the Jokadu constituency in 2018, but many of them remain sealed and incomplete,” he said.
