Man in Court for ‘Assaulting’ Sanyang Man With Cutlass

A certain Muhammed Sanyang appeared before the BrikamaMagistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a Sanyang man with a cutlass.

According to the particulars of the offense, Muhammed on or about 31 December 2024, in Sanyang village, assaulted Malang Bojang with the intent to cause bodily harm by hitting him with a cutlass on the thigh, resulting in injury.

He pleaded not guilty when the charge sheet was read to him and at that juncture, Sgt. M.L. Sallah, representing the Inspector General of Police, requested an adjournment to call his first witness. 

The court granted the prosecution’s application, and the case was adjourned to 28 January 2025. Muhammed Sanyang wasmeanwhile given a D10,000 court bail and must have two Gambian sureties. The case was presided over by Magistrate K. B Sambou.
