A twist unfolded at the commission investigation as Marie Senghore, a civil engineer and managing director of BajamEnterprise Limited, asserted she had already provided the necessary documents, but the commission insisted on obtaining her personal bank statements. Despite her claims of compliance, the commission was unwavering in its demand for further financial records.
During the commission hearing, Marie was told to bring forward her personal bank accounts by the counsel. Marie expressed her confusion, stating, “I don’t personally see the relevance of my personal bank account to this.” However, the commission insisted, threatening to make an application for her arrest if she failed to comply. The commission set a deadline for Marie to produce all her personal bank accounts by the 21st of January 2025.
Marie defended herself during the hearing, stating, “I gave you what I had the last time I came, I submitted documents.” However, the commission remained resolute, requesting her bank accounts to be produced by the specified deadline. The chairperson expressed scepticism about the authenticity of the documents submitted and insisted on verifying them before admission.
Despite Marie’s assurances that the submitted documents were related to the discussed projects, the commission stood firm in their request for her financial records. They scheduled Marie to return on Monday to verify the documents submitted and provide any additional records that were requested. The commission remained determined to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that all necessary evidence was presented.
The commission’s insistence on obtaining Marie Senghore’s personal bank statements amidst her claims of compliance added complexity to the investigation. With her return to the commission scheduled for Monday, the focus remains on how Marie will navigate the demands of the commission and address their concerns regarding the requested financial documentation.
