Foreign National Arrested for Drug Possession and Unlicensed Firearm in Siffoe

According to a message sent by the Police PRO, a joint patrol operation at Siffoe Beach led to the arrest of a 61-year-old foreign national for possession of alleged prohibited drugs and an unlicensed pistol. The operation, which involved officers from the Siffoe Police Station, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, SIS, and other agencies, uncovered 10 wraps of cannabis at the beach, prompting a search of the suspect’s residence.

During the search, authorities found additional cannabis, an unlicensed pistol (PT 111 G2, 9mm), two magazines, and 82 rounds of live ammunition. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

The Gambia Police Force urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to enhance public safety. The arrest serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession in the region.
