Mrs. Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, special guest at Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has that the former ruling party congress signifies a commitment to shared ideals, aimed at identifying solutions that will propel the party forward and contribute to the nation’s progress. The congress was held under the theme “Nationalism, Reconciliation, Youth, and Women Empowerment.”
She made these remarks at the 9th National Congress at the Prime Atlantic Hotel in Banjul bringing together APRC members and supporters from various sectors across the nation.
She commended the current leadership of the party for the advancements achieved by the party and emphasized that the congress is not merely a gathering of individuals, but rather a reflection of their collective values and vision.
“This congress provides an opportunity to reinforce our connections in the pursuit of a brighter future for our esteemed party, APRC,” she noted.
The former Speaker stated that despite encountering challenges in recent years, their resolve has united them to hold a congress, noting that the achievements of the party illustrate that “when we stand together, no obstacle is insurmountable,” while she recognized the efforts of all individuals who worked diligently to ensure the success of the event.
She urged APRC members to foster unity and encouraged political leaders to exercise their democratic rights with integrity, sincerity, and a dedication to nationalism, thereby establishing a legacy for future generations.
Hon. Fabakary Tombo Jatta, party leader and Speaker of the National Assembly underscored the significant achievements that can be made through collaboration within the political landscape of The Gambia.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the collective welfare of the party, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public trust.
Hon. Jatta outlined the principles of democracy, independence, and the rule of law as foundational to the party’s mission.
He stated that the APRC-NPP Alliance remains intact, emphasizing that only APRC supporters will have a voice regarding the alliance before the presidential elections in 2026, while he called upon members to collaborate in guiding the party towards its intended objectives, characterizing the APRC as a party committed to representation.
