Kerewan Area Council Provides Street Lights Worth Over D280k To Community

Kerewan Area Council has recently presented 70 street lights worth D288,000 to the Kerewan community at a ceremony held at the area council premises in the North Bank Region (NBR).

Commenting on this beautiful development, Papa Tunkara, Chairman of Kerewan Area Council underscored the council’s commitment to plow back taxpayer money through development projects.

He, therefore, urged legible residents to pay their rates and tax on time.  

Chairman Tunkara noted that the presentation is part of campaign promises to the development needs of taxpayers to improve development in the community. He hailed the Chief Executive Officer of Kerewan Area Council for her support and commitment to promoting financial discipline and assured of the council’s continued support. 

Present at the handing-over ceremony was a cross-section of people including community elders, women, youths, and members of the Village Development Committee (VDC). 

Bakary Fatty, alkalo, and Kebba Gasama VDC Chairman of Kerewan thanked the management, staff, and councilors for their support to the community, and jointly urged residents to settle rate and tax bills on time. 

Alagie Joof, Kerewan Ward Councilor echoed a similar sentiment and expressed the delight of sound working relationship between the alkalo and VDC in bringing development to the ward. He noted that the provision and installation of the street lights would add more visibility to the administrative headquarters. 

Lamin Ceesay, NPP district chairman and Suwareh Kantehwomen leader of Kerewan hailed Kerewan Area Council for the foresight as it will increase the protection of women and children. Hon. Alagie K Saho Vice Chairman and Abdoulie Khan Director of Finance of Kerewan Area Council thanked all stakeholders for their support.
