The Human Resources Development Division under the Personnel Management Office (PMO) of the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) oriented 46 of 2024 Gambia government scholarship awardees for local and international, as per conditions for the scholarship award.

The local awardees were oriented physically through a PowerPoint presentation, while those awardees overseas had their orientation online on Thursday, January 16, 2025, through PMO’s conference hall, Banjul.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the Human Resources Development Division under PMO, Mr. Geoffrey Mousa Bala Gaye, said the orientation was the first of its kind to be organized by PMO.

According to Mr. Gaye, the event came at the right time for the awardees, adding that, it will guide them (awardees) during their program.

“It will also make them get familiar with what PMO is doing about the way it awards scholarships to active civil servants,” Mr. Gaye stated.

He advised awardees to send their progress report at the end of every semester to PMO which he said, will help the office in making sure they (awardees) are on the right track.

He, therefore, advised awardees to select thesis/dissertation topics on current and emerging issues relevant to their respective sector.

The Principal Personal Officer at the Human Resources Development Division at PMO, Mrs. Binta Jabang-Manjanginformed that there are 46 awardees from all Government sectors out of which, 16 are overseas on full scholarshipspursuing their programs in different fields, while 8 are also on stipend support overseas.

Following the presentation, there were question and answer sessions where awardees sought advice and clarification about their program.

The awardees finally appreciated and commended PMO through the office of the Human Resources Development Division for the initiative, thus advising them to continue with the good job they are doing for the civil servants and the country.
