President Adama Barrow, leader of the ruling National People’s Party, has enjoined his party militants to adopt one of the core mandates of NPP, leading by example in other to achieve the aims of the party.

During the NPP biennial congress held at Jarra Soma on Saturday, President Barrow urged for embracing transformation if the country can compete on the global stage with a strong economy.

“As the Party in government, we have a solemn responsibility to lead by example. To overcome hunger, drive national progress, and compete on the global stage, we must embrace a transformative shift toward building a robust economy. This requires aligning our actions with the noble ideals in our Party Manifesto and our philosophy of “Yirrwaa” – Progress,’’ he highlighted while addressing noticeably happy and optimistic NPP militants.

Expressing confidence firmly against any challenges, President Barrow added, “Guided by our shared values and unity in purpose, I am confident that we will face all challenges successfully. All we need to do is to march forward with determination while renewing our commitment to those who have entrusted us with the sacred duty of leadership,’’ he maintained.

The President further mentioned that as the nation prepares for a new chapter in its journey, the successes must not be measured exclusively through past achievements, saying, “We must complement the past and present with bolder visions to venture into unknown territory for greater accomplishments.’’

He said his party’s challenge today is not merely about winning elections again as a Party; it is also about collectively building a stronger, more resilient, and inclusive Gambia.

“This implies a nation that embodies opportunity, prosperity, equity, and justice for all Gambian citizens. These pressing challenges should now define our mission, as we chart the path forward for a more prosperous future. In this spirit, my government collaborated with our partners and stakeholders to craft a new Constitution for the country. The product is a draft Constitution designed to be inclusive, democratic, and reflective of the aspirations of all Gambians, at home and in the diaspora,’’ NPP leader specified.

The President called on all NPP militants to uphold the principles of tolerance and demonstrate exemplary discipline within their ranks, adding, “Let us reject division and remain faithful in our commitment to unity and progress.’’

‘’For now, we must rise above unethical behaviour, divisive political tactics, and malicious commentaries and articles, especially on social media. Let us reject propaganda that incites hate, violence, and disunity. Instead, let us champion a culture of dialogue, respect, and solidarity,’’ he attached importance as he sent advice to the gathering.

Focusing on 2026, he urged NPP supporters to be more determined, more involved in the affairs of the Party, and work harder to bring every Gambian on board. Within this spirit, the President invited all Party leaders, activists, civil society organizations, the private sector, and every Gambian to work with him for a better Gambia.
