President Mahama to continue working with Gambia’s

President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to continue working with his Gambian counterpart President Adama Barrow, following his recent election as president of Ghana.

The newly elected President who visited Gambia on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering strong ties with The Gambia and also assured that his administration will continue with the excellent relationship existing between both countries.

President John Dramani Mahama also pledged Ghana’s support for The Gambia’s reparation process and highlighted the importance of delivering justice to the victims of former President Yahya Jammeh’s atrocities, which included the killing of 44 Ghanaians in 2005.

“We know that many processes need to be gone through, including bringing people justice for crimes committed during President Jammeh’s time. We have discussed the issue of delivering justice to the victims of former President Yahya Jammeh’s atrocities, which included the killing of 44 Ghanaians in 2005, and Ghana will give its support to that whole process. We also believe that as President Adama Barrow has always said, there should be a process where people who have been victims are compensated for the pain that they have gone through, and I fully support him,” President Mahama said.

President Adama Barrow commended John Mahama for visiting The Gambia following his election victory.
“We congratulate you on your big victory as well as your resilience and courage. I believe that experience is the best teacher, you have served as President before, and now you are leading again, so we are confident that you will continue your leadership and build on the progress you started,” he said.

President Barrow further highlighted the strong relationship between The Gambia and Ghana over the past eight years, emphasizing his government’s commitment to continuing its support for Ghana.
