GPF Concludes Investigations into ‘Unburned’ Drugs

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) said it has successfully concluded its investigation into allegations surrounding the “unburned prohibited drugs” incident, which followed the public destruction of seized drugs by the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG). 

“This thorough investigation aims to uphold justice and transparency in handling prohibited substances. The investigative panel has submitted a comprehensive case docket and report to the police command for onward transmission to the Office of the Attorney General, where the findings will undergo legal review for appropriate action,” stated a press release from the GPF. 

The release noted that the Inspector General of Police(IGP),Seedy Mukhtar Touray, commended the panel for their professionalism and diligence in handling this matter. 

He also expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and patience during the investigation.

According to the release, IGP Touray, acting on directives from the Ministry of Interior, instituted an investigative panel led by the police, to probe the matter to ensure all allegations were thoroughly examined and to uphold the integrity “our efforts against drug-related crimes”.

“The Gambia Police Force remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy on drugs, holding all accountable who seek to undermine national security,” the release concluded.
