The Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Thursday issued an order for the remand in custody at Mile II of a Brikama resident Lamin Nyaria on allegations of assault and threatening violence.
Prosecutors alleged that Lamin Nyaria on or about 29 December 2024, at Brikama New Town, with intent to intimidate and annoy Ebrima Nyaria, threatened to kill him[Ebrima].
Prosecutors also pressed common assault charges against Lamin for assaulting one Mustapha Nyaria on 29 December 2024, at Brikama New Town, by hitting him with a hammer on his face.
Lamin was also alleged to have wilfully damaged the pedal bicycle valued at D700.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of threatening violence but denied the charges of assault and Wilful damage to property.
Sgt. M.J Sallah, representing the Inspector General of Police made an application for an adjournment for the reading of the facts of count one and sentencing.
The court granted the application, and an order for remand of Lamin at the State Central Prison till 6 February 2025, for the narration of the facts and sentencing on count one and possible hearing from PW1 on counts two and three, was issued by presiding Magistrate A. Fofana.
