Seedy Muktarr Touray, the Inspector General of Police of The Gambia, assured that the security of the nation remains paramount to the Gambia Police Force, and can never be compromised by anyone, urging all residents of The Gambia to be law-abiding.
Responding to the incident that took place at the Access Bank in Brusubi, the police chief said the assailants wore masks, caps, and dark glasses, adding that it was a well calculated move by the armed robbers who did their operations within a timeframe of five minutes and head away to a certain direction.
He warned citizens to be law-abiding and emphasized that the Gambia Police Force will not condone any form of law breaking, stressing that law-abiding encompasses a lot of areas that everyone living in the country must adhere to.
“The security of this country cannot and will be never be compromised. The democracy that Gambians and non-Gambians resident in this country are enjoying is something that everybody can attest to. For the past years since the advent of this dispensation, we all know the freedom that’s been enjoyed all and sundry, is something that need to be jealously guided,” stressed IGP Touray on Gambia Radio and Television Services on Wednesday.
Acknowledging that such incidents occur in every sovereign nation, he stated that as the population grows that crime rate also normally increases, stressing that such incidents happening in the country is a great concern to them, describing it as an alien incident to the nation, saying they [police] will do their utmost to get the perpetrators of the crimes to book.
“We have already started rekindling, also reinventing the wills, reactivating our intelligent led team, and to make sure that the response time for criminal s and criminal activities in this country falls within a short period of time,” he added.
IGP Touray appeal to the general public to continue their livelihood activities, assuring that the lives of citizens and residents of the country are protected by the police both day and night. He added that the security patrols are strengthened so that the perpetrators of the “heinous” activity are apprehended.
