The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kanifing General Hospital, Omar F. Jammeh, sheds light on the hospital’s challenges with theft and security issues amidst a surge in patient numbers.

“Theft incidents have become a major concern at our hospital, with some individuals pretending to be sick to steal from unsuspecting visitors and patients,” Jammeh said in an exclusive interview with The Voice.

Despite endeavors to address the problem with limited security personnel, theft remains a significant issue jeopardizing the safety of individuals within the hospital premises.

The PRO further highlighted that the hospital also faces defiance from escorts who disregard visiting hour regulations, resulting in confrontations with security staff. Situated centrally in the bustling Kanifing Municipal Council, the hospital draws a substantial number of individuals seeking medical attention, straining its resources.

In addressing the issue of medicine supply, the PRO mentioned that the hospital ensures a sufficient stock of medicines. However, Jammeh acknowledged the necessity for consistent availability to meet the demands of patients effectively. He emphasized the importance of continuous staff training to improve patient care practices and service quality.

With Kanifing General Hospital confronting theft and security challenges amidst a growing influx of patients, there is a critical need for relevant authorities to take definitive action. Enhancing security measures, enforcing visiting hour regulations, and ensuring a steady medicine supply are crucial steps to alleviate the strain from the rising patient numbers and enhance the overall healthcare experience for all seeking treatment.
