President Adama Barrow has recommended attitudinal change among Gambian politicians, insinuating that many people lost hope in politicians for not delivering on the promises they made to the people.
The President emphasized that politics is not something to toy with, saying that many politicians think that politics is a joke, adding that such politics “must end”.
“I recommend to all politicians a change attitude. Our attitudes are not good. People place high hopes on politicians for assistance. So, I beg all politicians that have the same vision with me and those that differ from my views in politics to do all it takes to not dash the hopes that are placed on us by the people who trusted us. Nothing should influence us into dashing their hopes,” the President emphasized during the opening ceremony of NPP bureau in Banjul.
Responding to Essa Faal, leader for the opposition APP Sobeya political party, who accused his government of personal aggrandizement, the President stated that everyone in the country knows what the truth is because he [president] was here and opened his own office and working in The Gambia. He questions the impact of Essa Faal in the country.
“I heard one politician saying our [government officials] stomach is protruding. He said we are into politics for personal aggrandizement. He said we are into political positions to fill our pockets. I left that to the public to judge. The politician who said that, what had he done in this country and what does he have? Someone working to get a pay cannot call himself a wealthy person,” he outlined while addressing the meeting in Banjul.
