The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate B. Sowe, on Monday issued an order for a certain Malick Jallow to be remanded at the Mile II following his admission of guilt to the charges of causing actual bodily harm to one Sheikh Ceesay with a razor blade.
Malick stands accused of lacerating the face of Sheikh Ceesay with a razor blade at the BS Garage in Serekunda on 6 January 2025.
Narrating the facts of the matter, the prosecuting officer Sergeant Baldeh recounted that the incident happened at around 2pm when the victim was on his way home with a friend from school.
“They stopped a vehicle in which the accused was the apprentice. When the vehicle slowed down to pick the victim and his friend, the accused insulted the victim and the victim held the accused’s shirt. When the vehicle arrived at the garage at Serekunda, the victim confronted the accused while the accused was trying to fix something in the car. Before the victim met him, the accused was sent to buy a razor blade to cut something,” explained officer Baldeh. He narrated further narrated that the Malick cut the blade into two halves and then put the other half into his pocket. The prosecution added that the victim confronted the accused and asked him why he was insulting him and his friend.
“Then the push and pull started. One half of the razor blade fell down but the other half was with the accused in his pocket, which he used to assault the victim by cutting his face, resulting in him sustaining injuries,” stated officer Baldeh.
“The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and photos of him were taken.”
The prosecution informed the court that victim’s school uniform, underwear, and four of his towels were stained with blood.
“The accused was arrested and taken to Serekunda West police station, where he was cautioned and charged,” stated the prosecution.
The case resumes on 4 February.
