By Dawda M. Jallow

Ousman Jallow has been formally arraigned before Magistrate M. Faal at the Kanifing Magistrate Court on serious charges of theft involving a pair of sunglasses.

The statement of offense clearly states that Jallow stands accused of stealing, in violation of Section 252 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01, Volume III, revised laws of The Gambia, 2009. The particulars confirm that on January 8, 2025, at Bakoteh in the Kanifing Municipal Council, he brazenly stole sunglasses worth 90,000 CFA, equivalent to D10,830.00, from Lamin Tamba.

Jallow has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Corporal 6472 A. Badjie, representing the Inspector General of Police (IGP), requested an adjournment to secure essential witnesses ahead of the next court appearance. Magistrate M. Faal granted bail for Jallow set at D11,000.00, with the requirement of one Gambian surety who must deposit a valid national identity card or passport and submit an affidavit of means.

The case will resume on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, for a hearing to present evidence.
