Nyima Sillah, the News Editor of The Voice Newspaper, arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Monday participate two-day training organized by the African Tax Media Network (ATMEN).
This training, scheduled for February 11-12, 2025, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, is being conducted by the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) of Burkina Faso in collaboration with the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF). This training is designed to solidify collaboration between communication professionals from tax administrations and journalists focusing on taxation.
It is essential that we enhance our understanding of tax issues and elevate awareness around tax reforms across Africa. The event will bring together participants from a diverse range of countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Botswana, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Tanzania, Uganda, the Zanzibar Islands, and Zimbabwe.
Attendees will gain vital knowledge about emerging issues in the African and global tax landscape, learn effective strategies for collaboration between tax administrations and media, and understand the media’s critical role in domestic revenue mobilization.
The goal is to bridge communication gaps between the media and tax authorities while exploring innovative approaches to enhance public awareness of tax matters. This training is a significant step towards strengthening the crucial relationship between tax policy and public understanding.
