NCAC Endorses Contracts worth D3 million with Over 100 Gambian Artists for Gambia Diamond Jubilee Celebration

As part of the upcoming Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) is proud to announce the signing of contracts with over 100 distinguished Gambian cultural artists and groups from all regions of the country.

The signing ceremony, held on Tuesday, 11th February 2024, at the NCAC Annex along Kairaba Avenue, marks the beginning of an exciting cultural showcase. This monumental event will highlight the rich diversity and artistic heritage of Gambia, bringing together vibrant performances, visual arts, and cultural expressions that reflect the spirit and history of the Gambian people.

In an exclusive interview, Hassoum Ceesay, Director General of NCAC, shared that the National Organizing Committee has tasked the centre with overseeing the artistic components of the celebrations, including musical jamborees, cultural receptions, and state banquets. Alongside the artists, live bands, top technicians, managers, choreographers, and producers will ensure that the event is produced to the highest standards.

The Diamond Jubilee festivities will feature a musical jamboree at Arch 22 on 18th February, with performances from young and veteran artists like Nyacho, ST, Jizzle, Jaliba, and so on. The celebrations will also include a major Fine Art Exhibition, featuring works from 25 prominent Gambian artists, the largest in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, the book exhibition will be held at a later date, this cultural bonanza invites the public to celebrate Gambia’s 60 years of independence through art, music, and performance, the exhibition will take place at the National Museum in Independence Drive.
