The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Al-Jama’at in The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, has emphasized that the most important thing is to unite and put in place a foundation of understanding despite “our diversity”, stating that one common thing is that there will always be diversity be it religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality or ways of thinking.
Addressing Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association [Nusrat Chapter] during the 8th Annual Peace Symposium on Friday, February 21, 2025, Amir Trawally said the most important thing is how “we come together, build that understanding despite our differences and diversity to promote peace.”
“One of the most fundamental things is that if we want to inculcate the sense of unity in diversity,” added Amir.
He called for tolerance and discipline in every society, saying peoples’ ways of thinking cannot be the same, adding that even in families, the way one person sees things will be different from the way his father, mother, brother, sister, or other relatives see that same thing or those things.
“People belong to different political parties, even different religions or faiths sometimes, but we can beautifully see in The Gambia that despite our differences of beliefs and perspectives, we remain united and love each other as a family,” he recognized.
“You should all be peaceful and be ambassadors of peace, be law-abiding and respect those in authority, be well disciplined and well-mannered and stay away from harmful things like drugs and things that will not benefit you but instead will ruin your lives. You should all strive to become very good and fruitful citizens of this country and anywhere you may find yourselves tomorrow,” Amir Trawally counselled the students.
