Ousainou Denies Ownership of Cell Phone, Lawyer Asks for Mobile Expert

The suspect in the killing of three police officers Ousainou Bojang on Monday denied ownership of a cell phone marked Spark 8 but his lawyer Lamin J. Darboe asked the court to allow him to secure a phone expert to confirm if the cell phone indeed belonged to his client.

According to Darboe, his client can confirm the ownership of the said cell phone only if he logs into it with his Google account email.

Ousainou, standing trial on a single charge of killing police constables Pateh Jallow and Sang J. Gomez and brutally wounding Constable Ancy Jawo after acknowledging the fact that his smart cell phone is a Spark 8 when he logged into it, said that the cell phone did not recognise his Google email account.

Ousainou made this revelation when one Commissioner Sowe, the head of Banjulinding Anti-Crime brought his seized properties before the court where given access by the court to his email details from his diary.

Testifying before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of Banjul High Court, Ousainou said that his phone had no cracks on its screen.

The Director of Public Prosecution argued that the defense should apply for the said phone to be tendered as an exhibit as he adduced that the content in the said phone should be raised by the defence after tendering it as an exhibit.

At the peak of the argument, the defence lawyer A. Sillah for the second accused Amie Bojang

[alleged sister of Ousainou] agreed with lawyer Darboe for a mobile expert to be called before the court in the next adjourned date.

Defense lawyer Sillah stated that a mobile expert can help his colleague’s client to retrieve his information from the Google account to ascertain if the cell phone belonged to Ousainou.

The presiding judge Justice Jaiteh granted the defence lawyer’s application and ordered the same to be made in the next adjourned date.
