Tallinding Market Vendors Seek Enhanced Amenities

Vendors at the Tallinding North Market are reaching out to their ward councillor with a request for greater support in constructing a canteen shop and installing a concrete floor in the market.

The improvements, according to the vendors are meant to address ongoing concerns related to dust and stagnant water during the rainy season.

Councillor Babucarr Mansally in an interview with this reporter, acknowledged the vendors’ needs and recognized the importance of their request.

“As a councillor living within this community, I understand the daily challenges faced by our vendors. It is my responsibility to ensure that our market is well-maintained and conducive to their business,” he noted.

Mansally also expressed commitment to prioritizing the construction of both the canteen and the concrete floor, adding that securing adequate funding remains a significant challenge.

“One of the hurdles we face is obtaining the necessary support from the central office. It can be difficult to navigate political differences, but I believe in the importance of collaboration for the benefit of our community,” he explained.

He noted that the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has been instrumental in providing tools, a truck, and fuel to effectively manage illegal dump sites and maintain drainage systems during the rainy season.

He said the current lack of garbage collection vehicles is attributed to technical difficulties, and assured that this will be addressed.

Councillor Mansally urged the youth in the community to engage positively and work diligently, emphasizing the importance of contributing to the collective well-being of the area.
