Magistrate Thomas Touray of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand in custody of alleged drug law offenders Ebrima Njie and Oumie Jarjue, pending the determination of their bail conditions.
The duo was charged with the offenses of conspiracy and possession of prohibited drugs.
According to the particulars of the first count, Ebrima Njie and Oumie Jarjue conspired to commit a felony on or about December 7th, 2024, at the Senegambia Secret Night Club in the Kanifing Municipality and other locations within The Gambia.
The particulars of count two indicated that on 7 December 2024, at the same night club, Ebrima and Oumie were found in possession of 17 pills of ecstasy, a prohibited drug.
They categorically denied the charges.
Superintendent M.S. Camara, prosecuting, formally requested an adjournment to secure witnesses before the next court proceedings, stating that he was not opposed to bail for the accused persons.
However, Magistrate Touray ordered that the bail be suspended and the accused persons be held at Mile II Central Prison until their bail conditions are determined.
