Former chairman of the Victims Centre for Human Rights Violation Demba Ali Jawo has said Yahya Jammeh is only making unnecessary noise, despite being “quite certain” that an arrest warrant awaits him.

In an interview with this medium, Mr. Jawo opined that Jammeh is only making unnecessary noise but he has no intention of returning to The Gambia anytime soon.

“He [Jammeh] is quite certain that an arrest warrant is waiting for him here and knowing his pomposity and arrogance, Jammeh would never want to find himself in a situation, where he would be humiliated by being arrested and detained. Therefore, even if he is invited to come back by the government, he is not likely to accept it,” stated Jawo.

Jawo dismissed as bogus and bravado Jammeh’s statement that he harbours no fear of being prosecuted.

“He is merely making noise but he is quite worried about the possibility of being prosecuted for the crimes he is alleged to have committed while in office. While he certainly has his loyal supporters in this country, their number is quite insignificant to make any difference or impact on the case against him,” asserted Jawo, who also served as Barrow’s information minister.

It could be recalled that former president Jammeh last month announced that he would return to The Gambia but did not say when.
