The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and various tourism stakeholders, is currently attending the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Berlin, Germany, to promote the unique appeal of Destination Gambia. The event, a key source market for the country, began on March 4th and will run until March 6th, 2025.

Since its inception in 1966, ITB Berlin has been the leading platform for the global travel and tourism industry. Under the theme “The World of Travel Lives Here,” ITB Berlin 2025 expects exhibitors and trade visitors from around the world, with around two-thirds of exhibitors and nearly half of participants coming from abroad, all of whom hold significant decision-making power.

The trade show is organized into market segments such as Adventure Tourism, Business Travel, LGBTQ+ Travel, Luxury Travel, Medical Tourism, and Travel Technology. Parallel to the exhibition, the ITB Berlin Convention hosts experts who discuss the trends and innovations shaping the future of travel. This year, over 5,800 attendees from more than 170 countries are participating.

At the event, The Gambia is stationed at Hall 21, Stand 132. Mr. Adama Njie, Director of Tourism Promotion at the Gambia Tourism Board’s UK Office, highlighted Germany as a key tourism market, noting the potential of high-spending visitors. He emphasized the importance of The Gambia’s participation in ITB Berlin, calling it a vital opportunity to showcase the country’s offerings to German and German-speaking audiences.

Njie also encouraged Gambians in the area to attend and engage with tourism officials for potential collaborative initiatives, marking this year as a promising tourism season for The Gambia.
