Ousainou Bojang, who is standing trial for the killing of two police officers and the brutal wounding of another, confirmed during cross-examination on Wednesday that he left his passport and a Techno Spark 8 smartphone at his home in Brufut Village before traveling to Julolom, Senegal.
Appearing before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the Banjul High Court, Bojang was questioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), AM Yusuf, about his departure to Senegal. When asked if he had taken his smartphone with him, Bojang initially thought he had, but later realized after searching his belongings that he had left it plugged into an electrical socket in his sitting room at Brufut.
Further questioning revealed that Bojang had also left a bag with his sister, Amie Bojang, the second accused in the case. The bag reportedly contained his passport, a Gambian residential permit, and an undisclosed sum of money, which he had given to her before leaving for Senegal.
When asked about the number of Gambia Revenue Tin Certificates he possessed, Bojang explained that he had lost one but later secured another using his Senegalese passport.
At this point, DPP Yusuf requested an adjournment, which was granted without objection.
The court also admitted several items into evidence, including a receipt for D20,000 from Guaranteed Trust Bank Gambia Limited, a wool black jacket, and a pair of white shoes, which were said to belong to Bojang.
Records show that Bojang’s sister, Amie Bojang, is charged with a single count of accessory to murder under Section 202 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01, Volume 3, Laws of The Gambia 200.
