By: Kemo Kanyi

Gambia Football Federation defending champions, Real De Banju Football, have completed the division one league first round on top of the table despite losing the final match of the round to Hart Academy, who sits a point adrift.

After fifteen matches, last year’s winners maintained their strong start to the season. Newcomers and surprise performers in the league, Hart Academy, finished the round in second place.

Hart Academy won against the league leaders, Real De Banjul FC, by 2-1 at the Soma mini stadium to continue their impressive performance over the league’s best teams following a win against Fortune FC.

Greater Tomorrow Football Club played a goalless draw against Brikama United in a hard-fought derby at the Brikama Box-ba mini stadium during the weekend.

Banjul United continued its struggle at the bottom of the table after a 2-2 draw with TMT FC.

Real De Banjul, Hart Academy, and Brikama United finished the first round in the top three positions.

Greater Tomorrow FC, Armed Forces FC, and Banjul United occupied the last three spots in the standing after fifteen matches.
