The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has arrested three individuals allegedly involved in the kidnapping of two children in Brikama, West Coast Region (WCR).

The incident occurred on Monday morning when the twin children, who were in their school uniforms, were being escorted to school. According to reports, the alleged kidnappers emerged from a taxi with registration number 3648 and abducted the twins.

The incident caused widespread panic in the area, prompting calls for immediate security action.

Siman Lowe, the Public Relations Officer of the GID, confirmed to The Voice newspaper that the father of the children, along with his accomplices, was apprehended by officers at the Dimbaya Immigration Station while attempting to flee the country.

“Mohamadou Jallow, who claimed to be the father of the children, along with Amadou Kanteh and Isatou Jallow—both believed to be Senegalese nationals aiding him in the alleged abduction—were arrested while trying to leave The Gambia,” Lowe said in a telephone interview with The Voice.

Following the arrests, Lowe stated that the twins and all three suspects were transferred to the Brikama Salanding Police Station in West Coast Region for further investigation into the matter.

It has been reported that the father of the twins, who is currently living in Senegal, divorced their mother, who has since remarried.
